Softball Recap: Johnston City Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Johnston City extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 11-9 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Mater Dei Knights. For the Indians, this counts as revenge for the 4-1 victory the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2022.

The team relied heavily on Lilli Armes, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zoee Cullum, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

As for Mater Dei, they now have a losing record of 6-7-1. Even though they lost, their still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.3 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

On Mater Dei's side, Rylie Rolves was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Roelfs, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Looking ahead, Johnston City will face off against Carmi-White County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mater Dei, they will challenge Flora at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
