             Sweetwater and Chula Vista are an even 5-5 against one another  since September of 2014, but  not for long. The Sweetwater Red Devils will venture away from home to  challenge the Chula Vista Spartans  at 6:30  p.m.  on Friday. Sweetwater is coming into the  matchup on  a  three-game losing streak.
 Sweetwater might be feeling deja-vu: they lost  21-17 to Eastlake, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Despite 151 more yards than the Titans, the Red Devils couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
 Sweetwater's  loss shouldn't obscure the performances of  Faisal Musa, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and  Zaryan Crews, who rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 80 yards.
 Even though they lost, Sweetwater was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 278  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've posted since back in December of 2023.
 Sweetwater wouldn't let Eastlake keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Sweetwater can thank  Nassir Hicks and  Jacob Gonsalves for forcing both of them.
 Meanwhile,  a  victory for Chula Vista just wasn't in the cards  last Friday as the  squad wasn't able to take the lead at any point. They were dealt  a  45-14 defeat at the hands of Mater Dei Catholic. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' California football rankings  (they are ranked 485th, while the Crusaders are ranked 179th).
 Although Chula Vista took the loss, they still got scores from  La'Darrione Perkins and  Elijah Gillespie.
 Even if they lost, Chula Vista's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks.  Benjamin Rivera was especially locked on to Mater Dei Catholic's QB and sacked him twice.
 Sweetwater's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Chula Vista,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 4-4.
 Sweetwater came out on top in a nail-biter against Chula Vista when the teams last played  back in September of 2023, sneaking past  23-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sweetwater since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
