The Covington Chargers will challenge the Ripley Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Covington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Covington and Millington Central, and Millington Central kept the tradition alive. The Chargers fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 8-7 on Thursday.

Caroline Cole was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Ripley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Westview.

Covington's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Ripley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6-1.

Covington might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Ripley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
