Baseball Game Preview: Fox Warriors vs. Northwest Lions

The Fox Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Northwest Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fox's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Northwest's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Fox and Mehlville, and Mehlville kept the tradition alive. The Warriors fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-4 on Friday. The Warriors' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Northwest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They came up short against Lindbergh, falling 8-2.

Northwest got a good showing from Gio Cignetti, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Cignetti has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Landen Deckard was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Fox's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Northwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-19.

Fox was able to grind out a solid victory over Northwest in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
