Softball Preview: Blanchester Wildcats vs. Valley View Spartans
The Blanchester Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Valley View Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Blanchester has three straight victories, Valley View has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Saturday, Blanchester needed a bit of extra time to put away Washington. They had just enough and edged the Blue Lions out 9-8.
Quynn Dawley was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 8.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits. Dawley was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Jocelyn Lansing was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and a double. Another player making a difference was Bailie Bare, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Valley View lost 12-2 to Miamisburg on Saturday.
Blanchester has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-16 record this season. As for Valley View, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-17.
