Softball Recap: Ludlow Has No Trouble Against Dayton

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dixie Heights, Ludlow was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Dayton Greendevils with a sharp 15-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won three matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Evie Orsua made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. Orsua was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shelby Ralston, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Miley Lay was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Ludlow was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Ludlow's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Dayton, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ludlow will square off against Holmes at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Dayton, they will take on Newport at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Greendevils are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
