Basketball Recap: Crooms Academy Takes a Loss

Crooms Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Taylor Wildcats and fell 59-23. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 46-23 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Akilah Manley, who posted nine points. Cassidy Read was another key player, putting up six points.

Taylor's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mackenzie Sanchez, who put up 12 points. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Armstrong, who had 14 points.

Crooms Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Taylor, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-1.

Crooms Academy will take on Warner Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Crooms Academy is facing Warner Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Warner Christian Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Taylor, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 44-34 loss against First Academy on the 10th.
