Washburn Rural took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Blue Valley North Mustangs, sneaking past 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blues have posted since October 5, 2024.

Washburn Rural had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-21, 25-22.

Coming up, Washburn Rural will face off against Hayden on Tuesday. As for Blue Valley North, they will square off against Olathe Northwest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
