Basketball Game Preview: Tremont Eagles vs. Tupelo Christian Prep Eagles

Tremont and Tupelo Christian Prep are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2018, but not for long. The Tremont Eagles will square off against the Tupelo Christian Prep Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Tremont and 14 for Tupelo Christian Prep dating back to last season.

Tremont is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against Thrasher, falling 56-30.

Tremont's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Olivia Gillespie, who went 6 of 14 en route to 15 points and six boards, and Sarah Sims, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Tremont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Tupelo Christian Prep was beaten by Biggersville 70-21 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Lions are ranked 52nd).

Tremont now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Tupelo Christian Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Everything came up roses for Tremont against Tupelo Christian Prep in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 49-14 win. In that contest, Tremont amassed a halftime lead of 31-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
