Volleyball Recap: McCutcheon Triumphs

McCutcheon posted their closest victory since August 18th on Tuesday. They skirted past the West Lafayette Red Devils 3-2. The Mavericks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Red Devils, too.

McCutcheon had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 19-25, 25-12, 25-22, 15-10.

McCutcheon found their leader in freshman Rebecca Gaeta, who had four digs and three aces. Gaeta also set a new season-high mark in assists with 23. Aislyn Patel also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

McCutcheon was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. They are 3-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

McCutcheon's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for West Lafayette, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 5-2.

McCutcheon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Lafayette Jefferson on the 4th. As for West Lafayette, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Lebanon on the 3rd.
