Softball Recap: Kirtland Hornets vs. Cardinal Huskies
Kirtland had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-5 to make it 15. They came up short against the Cardinal Huskies, falling 24-10. The Hornets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Huskies from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Maggie Kothera made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydnie Sullivan, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
As for Cardinal, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
On Cardinal's side, Natalie Soltis was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. In other batting news, Cardinal got a massive performance out of Adelyn Grant, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
