Basketball Preview: Caledonia Fighting Scots vs. Hudsonville Eagles
Caledonia is 1-9 against the Eagles since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Caledonia Fighting Scots' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Hudsonville Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Caledonia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Eagles are ranked 20th).
Last Friday, Caledonia came up short against the Rams and fell 56-46. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Caledonia in their matchups with the Rams: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Caledonia had strong showings from Jaiden Googins, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds, and Kyan Vanderwoude, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Googins is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, Hudsonville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 56-51 to the Buccaneers.
Caledonia's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Hudsonville, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Caledonia came up short against the Eagles when the teams last played back in January, falling 68-60. Can Caledonia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
