McMichael's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Magna Vista Warriors as the McMichael Phoenix made off with a 15-5 win. Considering the Phoenix have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kora Ingle made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samantha Hopson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI and three doubles. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Betsy Taylor, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
McMichael was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
McMichael's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Magna Vista, they dropped their record down to 1-2 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, McMichael will venture away from home to face off against Morehead at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Morehead has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.57 runs per game on average), something McMichael will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Magna Vista, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Carroll County at 5:00 p.m.
