First Academy will venture away from home to square off against Legacy Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. First Academy has given up an average of 9.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
First Academy came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against The Villages Charter, falling 16-1. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.
First Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Bell, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Bell's first of the season.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Monday. Legacy Charter put the hurt on Central Florida Christian Academy with a sharp 18-1 victory. That looming 18-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Legacy Charter yet this season.
James Hodge made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Legacy Charter's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't). Hodge was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one triple.
In other batting news, Kevin Barnard was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Carter Johnson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Legacy Charter hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Florida Christian Academy struck out six times.
Legacy Charter's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-9. As for First Academy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-14.
First Academy beat Legacy Charter 12-7 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Does First Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Legacy Charter turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
