Softball Recap: Reading Comes Up Short

Reading extended their losing streak to nine on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-11 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 22-20 heartbreaker at the hands of the Daniel Boone Blazers. Even if the Red KNights couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Analiah Rodriguez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-5 with four runs and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Rivera Perez, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

As for Daniel Boone, the win snapped their losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 2-13 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Daniel Boone's side, they got a massive performance out of Peyton Manogue, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Manogue a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Vanessa Eardley, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Coming up, Reading will host Muhlenberg at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Daniel Boone, they will challenge Antietam at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
