Basketball Recap: Eminence Comes Up Short

If Eminence was riding high fresh off their 57-17 takedown of Brown last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eminence Warriors took a blow against the Owen County Rebels on Saturday, falling 73-46. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-23 back in January.

Eminence's loss came despite strong showings from Victoria Spiegl and Brooklyn Smith. Spiegl went 5 for 9 en route to 15 points along with six steals and three blocks, while Smith went 6 of 14 on her way to 18 points. Spiegl has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 29 times she's played.

Eminence's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Owen County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season.

Coming up, Eminence will be playing in front of their home fans against Carroll County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Owen County, they will head out to square off against Trimble County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Owen County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
