Mt. Abraham managed to slip by Missisquoi Valley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Eagles came up short against the Thunderbirds on Wednesday, falling 12-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Otter Valley came out on top against Fair Haven on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run fourth inning. The Otters' pitcher stepped up to hand the Slaters a 17-0 shutout.
Sophie Parker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Parker was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Otter Valley got a massive performance out of Leann Thomas, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Thomas has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Ella Otto was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Otter Valley pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.8 runs. As for Mt. Abraham, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.
Mt. Abraham got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in June of 2025 against Otter Valley by a conclusive 21-12 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Otters have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
