La Jolla Country Day won the last time they faced Maranatha Christian and things went their way on Monday too. The La Jolla Country Day Torreys walked away with a 56-44 win over the Maranatha Christian Eagles. The Torreys pushed the score to 45-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Adrian Ownbey, who posted nine points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Piester, who had eight points and 13 rebounds.

La Jolla Country Day is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for Maranatha Christian, they now have a losing record at 13-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Jolla Country Day will host Francis Parker at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Francis Parker knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully La Jolla Country Day likes a good challenge.
