Softball Game Preview: Moreno Valley Vikings vs. Perris Panthers

The Moreno Valley Vikings will venture away from home to face off against the Perris Panthers at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Moreno Valley's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.

Moreno Valley is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Rancho Mirage just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 16-13 to the Rattlers.

Mia Licon led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Yahaira Esquivel, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Meanwhile, while it was Perris who put the first runs on the board on Thursday, it was Lakeside who put up more. The Panthers lost 12-2 to the Lancers. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Perris saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kimberly Santoyo, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Moreno Valley now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Perris, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Moreno Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Perris struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Moreno Valley took their victory against Perris in their previous meeting on April 3rd by a conclusive 29-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
