Baseball Recap: Lumberton Has No Trouble Against Seventy-First

Lumberton's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Seventy-First Falcons. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by eight runs or more this season.

Shaun Henderson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Lumberton let Brody Stueck and Noah Britt run wild. Stueck scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Britt scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jayden Graham was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Lumberton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seventy-First only managed three hits.

Lumberton's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Seventy-First, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

Lumberton will welcome Douglas Byrd at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Seventy-First, they will head out to square off against Purnell Swett at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
