Softball Recap: Malad's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to 16

Malad extended their winning streak to 16 on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 25-2 in the process. They blew past the Declo Hornets 12-2. Considering the Dragons have won 21 matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Riglee Peterson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hadlee Summers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Bostyn Combs, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Malad was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests.

As for Declo, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. The loss continues a trend for them in their meetings with Malad: they've now lost six in a row.

On Declo's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Teagan Wickel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

As of now, neither Malad nor the Hornets have any future games scheduled.
