Softball Recap: North Summit Braves vs. Duchesne Eagles

North Summit had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-24 to make it five. They lost 22-0 to the Duchesne Eagles. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Braves' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Duchesne, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Duchesne's part, Kira Grant made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Grant has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, four runs, and two stolen bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (five).

In other batting news, Claire Anderton was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Breklyn Skewes also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

As of now, neither North Summit nor Duchesne have any future games scheduled.
