Two dominant guards in Nethania Noel-Jeune and Jaelynn Housey are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Coral Springs Colts will challenge the Nova Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Coral Springs heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Saturday. They took a blow against St. Thomas Aquinas, falling 77-34. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Raiders are ranked 14th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Trinety Dajuste, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Janelle Swaby, who had four points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Nova's strategy against South Broward on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Nova blew South Broward out of the water with a 66-13 final score. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 matches by 21 points or more this season.
Coral Springs better focus on containing Housey and Ke'Mora Evans as the pair were huge in Nova's win. Housey dropped a triple-double with 12 points, 15 boards, and 12 assists, while Evans dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 assists. Evans' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of J'Yan Tyrell, who put up 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.
Nova was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2023.
Nova is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 46.1 points. As for Coral Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.
Coral Springs took a serious blow against Nova in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 72-17. Can Coral Springs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
