Laurel piles up the points against Northeast Jones

Recap: Laurel Golden Tornadoes vs. Northeast Jones Tigers

The Laurel Golden Tornadoes came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Northeast Jones on the road to the tune of 60-29. Considering Laurel has won five matchups by more than 30 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Laurel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kayllis Walker led the charge by scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. The matchup was Walker's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zy Evans, who scored 15 points.

Laurel has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Northeast Jones, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Laurel won't have much time to rest: their next game is against West Jones at 6:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. West Jones will be looking to keep their ten-game home win streak alive. Northeast Jones will take on Quitman at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th.
