Baseball Game Preview: Braintree Wamps vs. Milton Wildcats

The Braintree Wamps will challenge the Milton Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Braintree's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Milton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Braintree fell victim to Natick and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Redhawks by a score of 2-0. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since June 2, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Milton). They were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over Newton North on Wednesday. The Wildcats not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16, 2024 (when they won 8-0).

The win got Milton back to even at 5-5. As for Braintree, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.

Braintree came out on top in a nail-biter against Milton when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 11-9. Will the Wamps repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
