Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2022 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Jeremiyah Love of
Christian Brothers (St. Louis) is the 2022 MaxPreps Missouri High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound senior running back helped the Cadets go 13-1 and capture their second straight Class 6 state championship.
For the season, Love ran for 1,291 yards and 22 touchdowns while catching 13 passes for 370 yards
and five more scores. He also contributed as a defensive back.
Love was at his best in a 35-28 win over Lee's Summit North in the title game, piling up 317 rushing and receiving yards (14.4 yards per touch) to go along with five touchdowns. His 211 rushing yards were a season high and one of four postseason outings with over 100 yards on the ground.
Christian Brothers, winners of five state titles since 2014, outscored its opposition 221-65 in five postseason contests.
Love is regarded as a top 100 prospect by 247Sports and committed to Notre Dame in October over 33 other FBS offers.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released January 10.
