Preview: Copper Canyon Aztecs vs. Youngker Roughriders
The Copper Canyon Aztecs will head out on the road to challenge the Youngker Roughriders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Copper Canyon pushed their score all the way to 66 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 73-66 to Independence. Copper Canyon has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Youngker also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Washington by a score of 52-43.
Xavier Hargrove put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Taijh Riley, who scored ten points.
Copper Canyon's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-12. As for Youngker, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
Copper Canyon couldn't quite finish off Youngker in their previous matchup on January 9th and fell 55-52. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hargrove, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds.
