Basketball Recap: Wayne Memorial Zebras vs. Franklin Patriots

On Wednesday, the Wayne Memorial Zebras's game was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They enjoyed a cozy 62-43 win over Franklin. Given Wayne Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Patriots are ranked 235th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Wayne Memorial to victory were Jaylohn Allen and Carlos Medlock. Allen scored 18 points, while Medlock dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Medlock pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Abraham Rooks, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds.

The victory makes it two in a row for Wayne Memorial and bumps their season record up to 9-4. As for Franklin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Wayne Memorial will head out on the road to take on the Tractors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Franklin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Belleville is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
