Basketball Recap: Mount Pleasant Comes Up Short

Mount Pleasant lost against Union Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mount Pleasant Tigers were dealt a 72-45 loss at the hands of the Union Academy Cardinals. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-21.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Union Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kayl Starnes, who went 8 of 11 on her way to 21 points and seven assists. Starnes is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Paisley Boatright, who posted 15 points along with eight boards and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Mount Pleasant and nudges their season record down to 9-7. As for Union Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

Mount Pleasant has already played their next match, a 39-33 defeat against Southwestern Randolph on the 25th. As for Union Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-27 win against North Stanly on the 28th.
