Volleyball Recap: Portageville's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

If Portageville was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Oran on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Advance Hornets by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Bulldogs' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Portageville was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Advance work for it, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 26-24, 25-14, 22-25, 15-13.

Gloriaha Farmer paced Portageville's offense, picking up 18 kills. Farmer got some help from Mia Scherer and her 27 assists. Taryn Irby and Lexi Priggel kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Portageville's loss dropped their record down to 20-3. As for Advance, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-8.

Coincidentally, Portageville and Advance will both be playing Bismarck the next time they take the court. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Indians at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, while the Hornets will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
