Baseball Game Preview: Navasota Rattlers vs. Gateway College Preparatory Gators

The Navasota Rattlers will take on the Gateway College Preparatory Gators in a tournament on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Navasota sitting on three straight victories and Gateway College Preparatory on four.

Navasota proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 11) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Little River Academy 5-4.

Jaxson Bowman was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Evan Otto, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Gateway College Preparatory sidestepped Coldspring-Oakhurst for a 3-1 win.

Gateway College Preparatory also got a great performance from Kaleb Sprinkle as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andres Garza-Gongora, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run. That run marked the first that he scored this season.

Navasota's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Gateway College Preparatory, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Navasota came out on top in a nail-biter against Gateway College Preparatory in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Does Navasota have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gateway College Preparatory turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
