Football Recap: Providence Athletic Club Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Westminster Schools of Augusta

Providence Athletic Club is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Westminster Schools of Augusta. The Panthers fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 14-12. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jericus Mackey, who rushed for 115 yards and one score on only eight carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 58 yards. Evan Watt also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.

Abe Daniel was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 55 yards and one touchdown.

Providence Athletic Club's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Westminster Schools of Augusta, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Providence Athletic Club will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Georgia School for Innovation & Classics at 4:30 p.m. on the 17th. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Patriots have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. As for Westminster Schools of Augusta, they have already played their next contest, a 32-25 win against Westminster Christian Academy on the 10th.
