Softball Recap: Ballston Spa Takes a Loss

Ballston Spa fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Columbia on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Scotties of the 1-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Makayla LaRose spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits.

At the plate, Ballston Spa saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Livia Wiltsie, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Ballston Spa's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Columbia, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Coming up, Ballston Spa will challenge Averill Park at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Scotties' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Columbia, they will host Pine Plains at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
