Softball Game Preview: Olive Branch Conquistadors vs. South Panola Tigers

Olive Branch is 1-6 against South Panola since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Olive Branch is taking a road trip to take on South Panola at 6:00 p.m. Olive Branch has given up an average of 15.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Olive Branch is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Lake Cormorant, falling 17-2. Conquistadors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Lake Cormorant since on Thursday.

Meanwhile, South Panola waltzed into their matchup on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They came out on top against the Rebels by a score of 4-1.

Sadie Bright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, South Panola's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nia Fondren, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

South Panola's victory bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Olive Branch, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Olive Branch suffered a grim 19-0 defeat to South Panola in their previous matchup on March 3rd. Can Olive Branch avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
