Football Recap: Thomas County Central Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Thomas County Central never let their opponents score on Friday. They claimed a resounding 70-0 win over the Northside Eagles. Considering the Yellow Jackets have won seven contests by more than 47 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

It was another big night for Christian Lawrence, who rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, and also picked up 77 receiving yards and one TD. His longest rush was for an impressive 57 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jaylen Johnson was another key player, throwing for 168 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes.

Thomas County Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tyson Guion and Tyson Johnson. Guion got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory keeps Thomas County Central at an undefeated 8-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 56.0 points this season. As for Northside, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
