Basketball Recap: Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Comes Up Short

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They lost to Mountain Lake/Comfrey at home by a 58-42 margin. If the Coyotes were looking for revenge after losing 57-54 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bryce Nielsen dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. With that strong performance, Nielsen is now averaging an impressive 8.3 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Dillon Smith, who posted 11 points.

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Mountain Lake/Comfrey, the victory snapped their losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 2-11 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda has already played their next matchup (against Red Rock Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mountain Lake/Comfrey will challenge Windom at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
