Volleyball Recap: Sutherland Falls Despite Big Games from Jali Martinez and Macradee Lantis

Sutherland lost against Maxwell back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Sailors fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-1. The Sailors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Sutherland sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 16-25, 25-17.

Despite the defeat, Sutherland had strong showings from Macradee Lantis, who had ten digs, and Jali Martinez, who had nine digs and one assist.

Sutherland's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Maxwell, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Sutherland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Southwest on the 27th. As for Maxwell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Cozad on the 25th.
