Softball Game Preview: Bishop Shanahan Eagles vs. Downingtown East Cougars

Bishop Shanahan is 2-8 against Downingtown East since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Cougars at 3:45 p.m. Bishop Shanahan has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bishop Shanahan is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Wednesday. They lost 14-0 to Downingtown West. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Eagles haven't been shut out since back in March.

Meanwhile, Downingtown East had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 17-2 victory. Downingtown East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Downingtown East's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Shanahan, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
