Soccer Game Preview: Garland vs. Wylie

The Garland Owls will take on the Wylie Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Garland took a three-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Rowlett, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Garland's defense stepped up to hand Rowlett a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Owls wouldn't have won without Melvin Melgar, who scored the game-winner.

Meanwhile, Wylie's match on Friday was close up to the half, which is when they kicked things up a notch. They were the clear victor by a 4-1 margin over Rowlett. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Wylie pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four contests. As for Garland, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Garland beat Wylie by a goal in their previous matchup back in January, winning 2-1. Will Garland repeat their success, or does Wylie have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
