Basketball Recap: Hubbard Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Keyvonyai Hawthorne and Anthony Weverka

Hubbard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a hard 58-40 fall against the Avalon Eagles. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.

Anthony Weverka and Keyvonyai Hawthorne certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Weverka dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards, while Hawthorne went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds. That was a full 35% of Hubbard's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Hubbard's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Avalon, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.

Hubbard didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-45 loss against Slocum on the 12th. As for Avalon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-20 victory against Penelope on the 12th.
