Basketball Recap: Thatcher Comes Up Short

Thatcher was the 55-52 winner over Palo Verde when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Thatcher Eagles took a 61-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Palo Verde Titans.

Despite the loss, Thatcher still got an impressive performance from Isaac Palmer, who went 9 for 18 en route to 23 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Wade Hull, who posted six points.

Kameron Pippen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Palo Verde, going 9 of 12 on his way to 28 points and three steals. Those 28 points gave Pippen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniel Ortiz, who scored eight points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Thatcher's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-10. As for Palo Verde, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Thatcher wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-59 win against Safford on the 29th. As for Palo Verde, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 82-47 victory against Empire on the 29th.
