Softball Recap: Buckhannon-Upshur Has No Trouble Against North Marion

Buckhannon-Upshur lost to North Marion back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. Buckhannon-Upshur was the clear victor by a 14-4 margin over North Marion. With that victory, the Buccaneers brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Kynnedy Marple made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madi Knabenshue, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Kailey Hart was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

The win got Buckhannon-Upshur back to even at 3-3. As for North Marion, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Coming up, Buckhannon-Upshur will welcome John Marshall at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for North Marion, they will head out on the road to challenge Lewis County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
