Preview: Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet Royals vs. Stratford Spartans
Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet and Stratford are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet Royals will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Stratford Spartans at 6:00 p.m.
Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a serious blow against East Nashville Magnet last Tuesday, falling 63-2.
Even though Stratford has not done well against Maplewood recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Stratford walked away with a 58-46 victory over Maplewood. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Stratford.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stratford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Leonna Summers, who scored 15 points. Jamila Roper was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Stratford, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet and Stratford were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in November of 2022, but Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet came up empty-handed after a 46-45 loss. Can Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
