Basketball Game Preview: Rosewood Eagles vs. East Duplin Panthers

The Rosewood Eagles will take on the East Duplin Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, Rosewood ended up a good deal behind Spring Creek and lost 66-48.

Despite their loss, Rosewood saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Bryson Hobbs, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The contest was Hobbs' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tielen Mccrae, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points.

Even though they lost, Rosewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Creek only pulled down seven offensive boards.

East Duplin has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were beaten by Kinston 78-32 on Tuesday. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

East Duplin's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3. As for Rosewood, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Rosewood strolled past East Duplin when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 55-40. Does Rosewood have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Duplin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
