Angleton is a perfect 4-0 against Ball since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Angleton Wildcats will be playing at home against the Ball Tornadoes at 6:30 p.m. Angleton will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Angleton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Almeta Crawford a 19-0 shutout on Tuesday. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.
Rylee Church made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jenna Sebests, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Hailey Broussard was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
Angleton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Ball came up short against Santa Fe on Tuesday and fell 7-3.
Ball saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Klarisa Martinez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run. That's the most hits Martinez has posted since back in March of 2024.
Ball dropped their record down to 2-11 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Angleton, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
Ball's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Angleton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. It's a different story for Ball, though, as they've only averaged .235. Will they be able to contain Angleton's hitters?
Angleton beat Ball 10-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Angleton repeat their success, or does Ball have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
