Basketball Game Preview: Cardinal Comets vs. Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Rockets

The Cardinal Comets are taking a road trip to square off against the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Cardinal and 16 for Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont dating back to last season.

Last Tuesday, Cardinal was beaten by Centerville 88-36. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while the Big Reds/Redettes are ranked 131st).

Meanwhile, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont took a blow against Davis County on Tuesday, falling 70-28.

Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont's defeat dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Cardinal, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Cardinal came out on top in a nail-biter against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 64-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cardinal since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
