It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mantachie ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Belmont Cardinals 6-5. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Mantachie's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-9. As for Belmont, they dropped their record down to 7-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Mantachie will have a chance to go back-to-back against Belmont: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
