Football Recap: Centennial Drops Highest Score of Season Against Somerset Academy Losee

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Centennial). They walked away with a 52-41 victory over the Somerset Academy Losee Lions on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won three in a row.

Centennial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nehemiah Dunlap-Myvett led the charge by rushing for 140 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, while also throwing for 138 yards and four TDs on only 13 passes. Dunlap-Myvett's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Brogan Church was another key rusher, rushing for 127 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Centennial was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 275 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 205 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

Somerset Academy Losee's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carl 'CJ' Sparks, who rushed for 222 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries. Another player making a difference was Kieran Daniel, who rushed for 151 yards and two TDs.

Centennial now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Somerset Academy Losee, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-10.

Looking ahead, Centennial will venture away from home to square off against Shadow Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Somerset Academy Losee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
