Basketball Game Preview: James Island Trojans vs. Fort Dorchester Patriots

James Island hasn't had much luck against Fort Dorchester recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The James Island Trojans will head out to take on the Fort Dorchester Patriots at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

James Island is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. They lost 51-26 to Summerville. The match marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

The losing side was boosted by Madisyn Smith, who posted seven points and six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played.

Meanwhile, Fort Dorchester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 53-42 to West Ashley.

Fort Dorchester's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for James Island, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

James Island came up short against Fort Dorchester in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, falling 50-38. Can James Island avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
