Softball Recap: Delta Takes a Loss

Delta had lost seven straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-20 to make it eight. They came up short against the Carbon Dinos, falling 10-1. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Rabbits couldn't push the score so high this time.

Delta got a good showing from Danica Rowlette, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, Delta saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joslyn Christiansen, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Christiansen has hit this season.

As for Carbon, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-14. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Carbon's side, Danica Adams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. Adams has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alexa Jones was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aleece Ardohain, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Carbon beat Delta by a score of 16-15 later that day.
